Who We Are

WE ELECT DEMOCRATS!

We inform voters, promote elections, study issues, and urge citizen action!

  • The Jefferson County Democrats (JCD) work together to elect strong Democratic candidates and pass ballot measures that reflect our values.

  • We endorse or support activities and political allies that reflect our values and improve the welfare and environment of Jefferson County residents.

  • We encourage voter registration and participation, fair campaign practices, and high ethical stands for all publicly elected officials.

  • We discuss public issues, determine our goals, and encourage members to express their concerns and ideas to elected officials.

We proudly believe in the present and future of our great country.

We advocate policies to defend and enhance the well-being of the people as our highest priority. We believe in the values of community, dignity, empathy, equality, tolerance, opportunity, and the common good of the interdependent world we share.

All citizens deserve dignity, respect, and fair treatment. We believe diverse people, ideas, backgrounds, cultures, and lifestyles add to the value of our community and our nation.

We’re an active group of committed volunteers.

JCD is a nonprofit political organization that depends on its dedicated members, active volunteers, and generous donors.

We serve Jefferson County from Port Townsend to Port Hadlock, Nordland, Chimacum, Port Ludlow, Quilcene, Brinnon, Gardiner, and all the rural areas in between.

JCD members live in Jefferson County, support the purposes of the JCD, and have paid membership dues within the previous 12 months. Members include Democratic precinct committee officers and elected Democrats representing Jefferson County at the county and state legislative levels.

We welcome members and newcomers to discuss, plan, staff, and lead our efforts at regular meetings and occasional events.

Attend a meeting. And join our engaged volunteers to help make a difference.

We gather for informative programs and business meetings, community events, election activities, fundraising efforts, and social occasions.

Our friendly members include artists, boat builders, educators, farmers, musicians, nonprofit staff, public servants, retired citizens, skilled professionals, small-business entrepreneurs, students, technicians, union members, young adults, and workers in retail stores, restaurants, hotels, and the construction and marine trades.

We’re governed by the charter and bylaws of the Washington State Democratic Party, Washington state law, and our own bylaws. An Executive Board of Officers elected by JCD members and a Central Committee of precinct committee officers elected by primary election voters provide the leadership for JCD policies and activities.
