Jefferson County Democrats and Central Committee

Reorganization Meeting

10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, 2022

Blue Heron Middle School, Port Townsend

Local Democratic parties like ours are required to reorganize every two years. This year, the Jefferson County Democrats will reorganize on Sunday, Dec. 11, starting at 10 a.m. at the Blue Heron Middle School in Port Townsend.

Here’s the draft agenda (follow the link).

This meeting will be in-person, and masks will be required at all times inside the building except when speaking at a microphone.

Please note, we have an upsurge of infections at the moment. These infections include COVID, flu, and RSV among others. If you are feeling sick, please stay home. We will have vulnerable members at this meeting, and we want to keep them healthy.

The meeting will have two segments:

Central Committee Meeting

New and returning PCOs will elect a Chair, Vice Chair, and two State Committee Representatives. Any member can run for these positions. Any member can nominate someone for these positions and speak on their behalf. However, only new and returning PCOs can vote.

JCD Member Meeting

All members will elect a Secretary and Treasurer. Members of each commissioner district will then meet in separate rooms to elect two District Representatives from each commissioner district.

All Democrats are welcome! JCD membership is not required to attend, although membership is required to vote. You can check your membership status here:

Call for Candidates

Most of the outgoing JCD officers and Board members have decided not to run again. They have served long and well and, in some cases, at a considerable personal sacrifice.

They have kept the organization going through the pandemic. They were instrumental in last month’s successful election in Jefferson County and in driving our voter turnout (77.45%)! And now, they are ready to turn responsibilities over to new Board members.

Members can show their gratitude by stepping in to fill their shoes (actually, their positions, they can keep the shoes). We need other members to run for office to keep JCD strong and successful.

Descriptions of the duties of the various positions to be voted on at the Reorganization are included in our Bylaws:…

If you want more information on the duties or time commitment of any positions, please send questions to
